Welcome to Class 4

Teacher: Mrs Flint

Teaching Assistants: Mrs Lovatt and Mrs Tibbetts

P.E: is on a Thursday and Friday

Willow School: is on a Monday. 

We will go out into the Willow School area and use this time to find out about the world, often linking to our topic.

Homework: is given out on a Wednesday and due in the following Tuesday.

Children are also given spellings on a Wednesday, these should be practised each day. We will test these children on their spellings in the week.

The children will also be given vocabulary words on their spelling sheet. We will go through these words in school, 1 per day, the children will find out what the word means and how to use each word in a sentence. They do not need to be able to spell these words, however, if you child would like to or you feel they could then feel free to practise spelling them too!

Literacy: we will be looking at Katie Morag stories, recount writing, poems and instruction writing.

Maths: we will be learning to about counting, addition and subtraction, measuring, positional language and beginning to learn about multiplication and divison .

 Reading: Children will read at school each week within a group and will be given a reading book for home.

They will have a reading journal for you and school to record when they have read.

Please ensure reading journals are sent to school everyday and all reading books are returned.

Children will not be given a new book to read at home until they have returned their old one, which needs to be scanned out.

Children will win PRIZES the more they read!


Topic:  This term our topic is 'The Great Outdoors' and we are learning about all things outside! We will be finding out about different geographical locations and their features. We will be practising a wide range of skills including map reading and orienteering. We will also be designing and making our own picnic! This term feature a visit to the Wrekin Forest School where will have an opportunity to cook outdoors and learn bushcraft skills.
